About Gum Theory
Gum Theory is an independent editorial project focused on one thing: oral health signals that most people learn to ignore.
Not the obvious stuff. The patterns. The recurring symptoms that get brushed off — sometimes literally.
We started noticing something: most oral health content online is either clinical and cold, or commercial and loud. There wasn’t much space for something in between — a place that takes the topic seriously without pretending to be a dentist’s office.
So we built that space.
Gum Theory covers the biology behind common symptoms, the products people are actually trying, and the questions that don’t always have clean answers. We look at the research. We track what’s being discussed. We write it in a way that makes sense outside of a lab.
Gum Theory is not a dental office, and nothing here should replace professional dental advice. If something feels painful, severe, persistent, or unusual, the right next step is to speak with a qualified dental professional.
Some of the products we cover may earn us a commission if you decide to buy through our links. That does not change how we write about them — but you deserve to know it. We only feature products that fit the topics we cover. Full details in our Disclaimer.
